As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, iPhones do not have built-in hardware to function as a thermometer. However, there are several apps available on the App Store that can use various sensors in your iPhone to provide an estimate of the ambient temperature. Keep in mind that these apps may not be as accurate as dedicated thermometers and should be used for reference purposes only.

Here’s how you can use your iPhone thermometer using one of these apps:

Open the App Store: Go to your iPhone’s home screen and tap on the App Store icon.

Search for a Thermometer App: In the App Store, use the search bar to look for thermometer apps. You can try searching for terms like “digital thermometer,” “temperature app,” or something similar.

Read Reviews and Choose an App: Browse through the search results and read user reviews and ratings to choose a thermometer app that seems reliable and has good reviews. Some popular thermometer apps include “Thermo” and “Fever Tracker.”

Install the App: Once you’ve chosen an app, tap the “Get” button to download and install it on your iPhone. You may need to enter your Apple ID password or use Touch ID/Face ID for authentication.

Open the App: After the app is installed, open it by tapping on its icon on your home screen.

Follow App Instructions: Most thermometer apps will provide instructions on how to use them. Typically, they will ask you to place your iPhone in the environment or close to the object you want to measure the temperature of.

Wait for Reading: Wait for the app to gather data, and it will usually provide you with a temperature reading or an estimate based on the sensors in your iPhone.

Note the Limitations: Keep in mind that the accuracy of these apps may vary, and they are not a replacement for professional-grade thermometers. They can give you a rough idea of the temperature but should not be relied upon for critical measurements.

Share or Save the Data (if needed): Some apps may allow you to save or share temperature readings. Follow the app’s instructions for this, if required.

Remember that these apps rely on the iPhone’s internal sensors, which are not designed for precise temperature measurement. They are best suited for casual use and not for medical or scientific purposes. If you need an accurate temperature reading for medical reasons or critical applications, it’s advisable to use a dedicated thermometer designed for the purpose. Also, check the App Store regularly for updates and new apps, as technology evolves and new options may become available.
